01 / Remote coding infrastructure

codvps

A headless, CLI-first host manager for native Claude Code and Codex remote control on Linux VPS instances.

The question

How can a remote host stay useful across coding sessions?

codvps brings authentication, repositories, model synchronization, and host configuration into one command-line workflow. The coding tools run on the VPS and communicate directly with their providers.

Design decisions

Where the boundaries matter
01

Keep the native tools

Manage remote Claude Code and Codex environments without proxying their assistant traffic.

02

Make setup inspectable

The installer verifies the release checksum and version, then shows host changes before asking to provision them.

Synthetic walkthrough

codvps, step by step.

Illustrative data. This replay is not live and does not connect to private services.

Step 1 of 2

Choose the host setup

An illustrative setup for a personal Linux VPS, not a recorded run.

01 / Input
An Ubuntu/Debian VPS and the desired coding CLI components.
02 / Decision
Inspect the release and planned provisioning changes before installation.
03 / Output
A host configured for the selected native coding tools.

Evidence & current boundaries

Reviewed 2026-10-07

A summary based on the public project documentation, not an independent audit. Read the source README for the basis of these claims.

Implemented

A documented headless workflow

The public README documents version-pinned installation, component selection, and GitHub device login without a terminal.

Current limitations

  • Pre-alpha: command interfaces and behavior may change.
  • Host provisioning targets Ubuntu/Debian and requires a sudo-capable login user.
  • This case study does not claim production reliability or measured performance.
